Handprint for Change - Action towards Sustainability
Positive human action and impact is measured in handprints.
How did this "Handprint for Change" come about?
This important concept of an ecological handprint was introduced at the 4th International Conference on Environmental Education that was held in Ahmedabad, India in November 2007.

The iconic handprint was that of a little girl, Srija, from a school in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.
The concept of a Handprint is to decrease human footprints by taking more action towards Education for Sustainable Development. According to the handprint concept we need to shrink our ecological footprint so that it will have no impact, and we need to start healing the planet and transforming our ecological footprints into ecological handprints. We need to increase the good that we do for the planet.
The positive impacts are measured in handprints. These impacts are concerned with three aspects of sustainability: environment, society and the economy.
